Unity Outreach gave me a sense of belonging after I found myself in a club no one wants to be in.

Words cannot capture the depth of gratitude for the countless ways Unity Outreach supported me during my cancer journey and beyond. The unwavering compassion and empathy of Unity Outreach founders Peggy Turner-Jones and Sherry Turner-Bewsee; truly lightened my burden during my cancer journey. Their knowledge, positive feedback, and resources helped me to understand so much and validated my feelings. Their continued heartfelt companionship in my life while in remission is also a huge blessing.

Unity Outreach gave me a sense of belonging after I found myself in a club no one wants to be in. Through volunteering at fundraising events, I have met other cancer patients, survivors, and Unity Outreach donors that I am fortunate to call my friends.

If you asked what Unity Outreach means to me, I would say “security”. I know I will never be alone, no matter what. If cancer shows up again, and I cannot cover expenses, they will help out. If I need a ride to treatments, they will take me; if I ever need to be reminded of my faith, that will happen; if I ever need to be talked off the ledge, they will be there for me. Those assurances give me strength when the fear of recurrence fills my mind. Thank you, Peggy, Sherry, and so many others who support Unity Outreach to make the journey a little more tolerable.
